Ferret Brake Hydraulic System

With the shoes cleaned and a quick check of the pull off springs the next job was the brake pistons. The piston unit incorporates the piston and the opposing scissors that when pressure is applied via the brake pedal or handbrake cable operates the scissors and pushes the brake shoes on to the drum. The pistons had completely glued themselves in to the piston housing but one removed and cleaned enabled the free operation of the piston. This was done to all four of the cylinders.

Attention was then paid to the Master Cylinder. As the braking system was going to be stripped it would be best if the whole system was looked at. So the master cylinder was removed from the hull stripped to check for corrosion and then cleaned and replaced back in to position.
